Storm Barra – the clean up begins

The clear up after Storm Barra will continue on the Isle of Man today. The promenades at Douglas and Laxey were particularly affected by considerable over-topping at high tide. The sunken gardens lived up to the name and were under feet of water.

Elsewhere the roof at Ronaldsway Airport sustained damage, though the facility re-opened this morning and flights are running normally.

Also the Isle of Man Steam Packet sailings resumed with the 8.45 sailing to Heysham.

Meanwhile storm damage has been reported around the Island, with many trees uprooted by the storm force winds.

More windy weather with heavy rain is expected over the next few days.
