Manx Telecom has retained five major contracts with the Isle of Man Government to supply telecommunications and network management services across the Government estate for the next five years.
The announcement follows a competitive tender process and lengthy review of the Connect Mann programme. The Connect Mann network is used to communicate, exchange data and integrate multiple technology services securely to every Government building.
Manx Telecom will be responsible for implementing and supporting an island-wide fibre service including full management of all data and voice traffic across the local and wide area networks. The partnership with Government includes critical and extensive voice services, covering the emergency services, hospitals, GP’s, Covid-19 111 lines, schools and totalling approximately 230 locations across the Island.
Manx Telecom CEO Gary Lamb said: “We are delighted to continue our long relationship with the Isle of Man Government, providing key infrastructure and network management solutions across the whole Government estate.
“Not only is Government the Island’s largest employer with well over 7,000 employees using its systems, but the services it supplies are vital to the community in which we all live and work.
“These programmes of work, together with our partnership with Government to deliver the National Broadband Plan, reflect our ongoing commitment to future-proofing the Island’s telecommunications, and keeping all our residents and businesses connected.”
