Manx advocate John Rimmer named as Top 100 Private Client Lawyer

Local advocate John Rimmer has been named as one of the Top 100 Private Client Lawyers by Citywealth. His inclusion on the list comes after a year in which Citywealth said lawyers “really had to go above and beyond” to quickly adapt and respond to the changes and added complexities created by the pandemic and lockdown measures.

John has also been shortlisted for Advisor of the Year – Succession Planning/Trusts Law in the Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards 2022 and his practice Advocate John Rimmer has been shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year – Isle of Man. These coveted awards highlight the excellence of advisers and managers in the private wealth sector in the major international financial centres.

A practising lawyer for over 30 years, John originally qualified in England in 1993 and was admitted to the Isle of Man bar in 2001 after joining Dickinson Cruickshank & Co. He later established his own firm, Advocate John Rimmer, in 2014, focusing on private clients and their trustees, and charities.  He is joined there by fellow Manx advocates Hollie Ranscombe, and, as consultants, Paul Morris and Gillian Christian.

Receiving a Top 100 accolade from Citywealth has become a welcome regular occurrence for John, who has appeared annually in various Citywealth Top 100 lists since their inception, both for his work on-Island and more internationally.

Commenting on the announcement, John said, “It is an honour to be included in such a prestigious listing and to be held in such high regard by others in the industry, which has certainly seen its fair share of challenges over the past 18 months.

“I am delighted that the work of my colleagues has also been recognised and proud of the fact that, as a practice, we strive first and foremost to deliver the very highest quality service to individuals, families, charities, and trustees.

“We always aim to work with the highest professional integrity and in the interests of the Isle of Man, but we also insist on balancing our commitment to work with our staff’s family lives. Even before the pandemic, we allowed staff to be flexible with holidays and working hours, and where they work from – and they have more than repaid us by their hard work and dedication.

“This additional recognition from Citywealth and our peers is very much appreciated by us all.”

Winners of the Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards will be announced in January 2022. Although the awards are principally judged by a panel of private wealth advisors, there is a small public vote element. Votes can be cast at https://ifcawards.com/
