Local first for star student David

David Ford with his CAT certificate

A Dandara employee & Manx Professional & Educational Services (MPES) student has gained an Island first.

David Ford is the first in the Isle of Man to achieve the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification via The Manx Accountancy Apprenticeship Scheme.

David, who joined Dandara in 2018 as an Assistant Financial Accountant, has been studying for the qualification in the evenings and at weekends. After two years of hard work, his efforts have paid off and he has successfully passed the accountancy qualification, which is designed by the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA) to support the work of professional accountants.

Senior Financial Accountant Kate Greaves told B365: ‘We were delighted to hear of David’s success and would like to offer our sincere congratulations to him. He has demonstrated a fantastic work ethic since the moment he joined us at Dandara and has already proved himself to be a real asset to the team. He is very deserving of this impressive achievement and we wish him every success as he progresses to chartered accountant status.’

The Manx Accountancy Apprenticeship scheme may be available to local businesses, with an accounting function. Contact training@gov.im for more information.
