Following the launch of The Big Summer Walk in June, more than 130 people have already pledged to put their best foot forward and walk, jog or run 100 kilometres by 7th September 2020.

Junior Achievement Isle of Man and event sponsor Chase Wealth Solutions are thanking everyone who has stepped up for the summer fundraising challenge so far and is reminding others it is not too late to sign up! It is completely free to register, suitable for all ages and abilities and there is no minimum fundraising amount required, the charity just asks that everyone raises as much as they can and has some fun in the process.

Junior Achievement Chief Executive Sue Cook said: ‘We have been delighted with the interest in The Big Summer Walk to date and have had great fun hearing about all the lovely stomps participants have been on. We live on such a beautiful Island and part of the inspiration behind the challenge was to get more people out and about, exploring parts of the Island they may have never been!

‘The challenge ends on 7thSeptember so people have just under seven weeks to tackle the 100km. This is very achievable and works out at just over 14km per week, easy! We encourage everyone – regardless of age, fitness levels or ability – to gather the troops, slip on their walking boots, head outside for some fresh Manx air and take on #100kforJA!’

Paul Chase and his family, from Chase Wealth Solutions, the sponsor of the event, are also stepping up for the challenge.  Hesaid: ‘The Big Summer Walk has given me the push I needed to get out and about exploring the Isle of Man on foot with my family. We’re blessed to live on such a special Island and I’ve been lucky enough to experience some stunning Manx views recently, views that I haven’t appreciated fully until now.

‘What I like about the challenge is the fact you can do it at your own pace in your own time – whether that is a couple of kilometres a day or some hefty walks over the weekend – it is completely up to you! Chase Wealth is really excited to sponsor this walk and to help Junior Achievement raise lots of funds in the process.’

Every individual who completes the challenge and raises £35 or more is rewarded with The Big Summer Walk medal, and there are other great prizes up for grabs too. To find out more and sign up, call (01624) 666266 or head to:
