There’s growing concern in the hospitality sector that financial pressures caused by the loss of trade over Christmas, could force the closure of businesses.
The arrival of the Omicron variant of Covid 19 was disastrous for pubs and restaurants – many of whom were relying on strong Christmas trade to get them through the winter.
Events scheduled over the festive period were cancelled, costing businesses thousands of pounds in lost trade.
Support announced by government to date has been described as woefully inadequate.
Sector representatives have held talks with Treasury Minister, David Ashford in the hope that a way can be found out of the crisis, that enables hard-hit businesses to continue trading through the winter months.
