An Isle of Man appeal to provide food vouchers and gifts to people who struggle over the festive period is being supported by Dandara for the seventh consecutive year.

Each year the Isle of Man Salvation Army makes a public appeal for toys, gifts and monetary donations which it then distributes to hundreds of local families and individuals in need. It also hosts a community meal on Boxing Day, inviting members of the community who may not otherwise have the means to celebrate the festivities or are alone over Christmas.

Dandara has supported the appeal since 2015 and this year has again provided a donation to the 2021 Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, which will provide gift vouchers for local children in need and wrapping materials for toy parcels, along with food and other essential items for the Boxing Day meal.

Captain Rachael Nieuwoudt from the Salvation Army said: ‘We are very grateful to Dandara for its continued and invaluable support. Without the backing of local companies such as Dandara and the generosity of the Island community, we simply wouldn’t be in a position to do what we do and put smiles on people’s faces at this time of year.

‘Sadly not everyone is fortunate enough to have people around them or have the means to buy gifts or a Christmas meal. We believe everyone deserves to experience a little festive cheer and do what we can to make that happen and bring the local community together at Christmas time.’

Jo Orton, Dandara Marketing Director, added: ‘It is always a pleasure to offer our support to this important cause. After what has been another challenging year, we hope the toys, vouchers, gifts and food parcels help to spread a little joy across our Island for those that need it and hope everyone enjoys their Boxing Day meal.’
