Chartwell – one year on and planning for the long-term

An Island practice which provides respected independent financial advice to private clients and business is celebrating a special milestone.

It’s a year since Chartwell Financial Planners was formed, the brainchild of Manx businesswoman Jo Dugdale.

After marking its first birthday, the company is now looking to the future; committed to providing the best possible advice and service to protect what really matters.

Jo, who decided to set up her own practice after 25 years working in financial services and independent financial advice firms both in the UK and Isle of Man, is excited to see the business grow.

‘Yes, this is an exciting time, but it is only the beginning,’ she explained.

‘When we formed a year ago it was incredibly important to the team that we created a business that was both modern in its approach, yet delivered quality advice and placed the client at the forefront of every decision we took. We believe we are well on the way to achieving that.

‘You won’t find a Chartwell office; we meet clients at a location of their choice whether at home or a virtual online meeting.  Thankfully, we have been largely unaffected by the COVID 19 restrictions due to our business model.

‘What is key is taking the time to understand an individual’s aspirations for their life, their family and, in the case of an organisation, their business. We then put a plan in place which organises their finances in a way designed to help them best achieve their goals. It’s all about financial wellbeing, making the right decisions to build and protect your wealth over time.’

The Chartwell team, which as well as Managing Director Jo, comprises Head of Compliance Hazel Jordan and Non-Executive Director Chris Kewley, pledges to deliver a special brand of financial planning to both individuals and business owners, whether they are planning longer term or have already reached retirement.

Jo believes financial planning should be focused on keeping clients safe from the unknowns and improving their financial position, over the long term, using familiar tools such as insurance, investments and pensions.

The practice prides itself on using Lifestyle Cashflow Planning to help clients understand how to live the life they want to live and not run out of money.

Jo continued: ‘It’s been a really exciting yet challenging year. I feel very fortunate that we have achieved our first-year business goals and I have been humbled at the support received from both clients and the business community.

‘Looking ahead, our aims are to continue challenging the way financial planning is delivered; placing our clients financial wellbeing at the heart of what we do, whilst providing a top-level service.

‘Beyond that we truly enjoy what we do, believe in what we do and care about our clients, so it feels like a recipe for success. A sincere thank you to everyone who has been involved at Chartwell Financial Planners and, most of all, to our clients who have joined us over the last 12 months. We strive to continue offering the best possible financial advice.’
